Mani Mekhala

Work for Krishna Mehta Label based in Mumbai, India

The focus was on developing a complete range of womenswear for the Indian and international markets for the AW ‘22 season, coinciding with the festive Diwali season in India.

This collection was inspired by the concepts of asymmetry and freedom, and used hues from the Indian culture, showcasing feminine grace and elegance in its silhouettes and prints. A bright and festive colour palette was chosen to align with the design brief.

The Concept

Mani Mekhala is a goddess in the Hindu Buddhist mythology. She is the guardian of seas and is the perfect embodiment of grace.

The collection sets the mood, breaking the barriers of thine and mine. Switching between dyes, creative florals and geometric patterns as protagonists through a collage of textures, colours and embroideries.

It is an amalgamation of colours, embellishments and handcrafted block prints bringing elegance and grace to life, hence portraying the goddess Mani Mekhala.
